Details

Aziderm Cream 20% is a brand name of azelaic acid, an active ingredient, a naturally occurring saturated dicarboxylic acid used in the treatment of skin conditions such whitehead, blackhead, pimple and acne. It is a topical antibacterial lotion which helps the skin to renew naturally. Aziderm also kill bacteria that cause acne and rosacea in patients.

Aziderm works by penetrating the skin and inhibit the growth of bacteria. It also helps in preventing the production of acne bacteria which promote fatty acids.

Mechanism Action of Aziderm Cream

Azelaic acid clears its antibacterial effects by reducing the synthesis of cellular protein in aerobic and anaerobic bacteria, especially ropionibacterium acne and Staphylococcus epidermidis. In aerobic bacteria, azelaic acid inhibits several oxidoreductive enzymes including thioredoxin reductase, 5-alpha-reductase tyrosinase, mitochondrial enzymes of the respiratory chain, and DNA polymerases. In the anaerobic bacteria, azelaic acid blocks glycolysis. Azelaic acid also improves acne vulgaris by normalizing the keratin process and reducing microcomedo formation. Azelaic acid is effective against both inflamed and noninflamed lesions. Azelaic acid reduces the thickness of the stratum corneum and shrinks keratohyalin granules by reducing the amount of filaggrin in epidermal layers, and finally lowers the number of keratohyalin granules.
